Safety Tips

Your safety is important to us, and while meeting new people is exciting, you should always be cautious when interacting with someone you don’t know – especially online. At LunarLinc we want to create a safe space for you to interact and develop friendships.

Use your best judgment and put your safety first, whenever you receive a new match. You can’t control how others act, but there are things you can do to ensure you stay safe during your LunarLinc experience.

Below we have listed some best practices and tips for both online and offline safety.

Online Safety

Never Send Money or Share Financial Information

Never send money to anyone, through wire transfers, Venmo, Cash App, or any online or mobile payment service. Wiring money is like sending cash and nearly impossible to reverse or trace where the money is sent. There is never a reason to send anyone money because of a LunarLinc interaction. If another user requests money make sure to report it to us immediately. Email Us at [email protected]m Click to Copy

Protect Your Personal Information

Similar to your financial information, be extremely careful with other personal information you choose to share with people you don’t know. Do not share your social security number, the places/addresses you frequent, or information about your family members and friends.

Stay on the Platform

Keep conversations on the LunarLinc platform while you are getting to know someone. LunarLinc can monitor exchanges and has safety features set in place, to help you and others avoid users with bad intentions.

Be Wary of Long Distance and Overseas Relationships

LunarLinc can have options of meeting people long distance. Distance should not come in the way of you and your friends, but we suggest avoiding certain situations. Scammers can claim to be stuck out of the country and request financial support to return home.

Avoid someone that refuses video calls or talking over the phone. Make sure the person you matched with is who they say they are. Avoid those who refuse phone conversations and video calls, as this is a common tactic scammers use to mask their identity.

Report All Suspicious and Offensive Behavior

If someone you meet through LunarLinc has violated our terms and conditions and made you uncomfortable, you are encouraged to block and report the user. Here are some examples of term and agreement violations:

  • Requests for money or donations
  • Offensive or unwanted photos
  • Disrespectful or hateful messages
  • Any threats to you, themselves or others
  • Fraudulent profiles
  • Underage profiles
  • Spam or solicitation including links to commercial websites or attempts to sell products or services

Please report any suspicious behaviors or accounts directly on the app or contact us at [email protected]m Click to Copy

Protect Your Account

Picking a strong password is critical on social networking applications. As always, be careful when logging into your LunarLinc account and inputting personal information on any public or shared server. LunarLinc will never send you emails asking you to share your username and password.

Meeting in Person

Don’t Be In A Rush

Take your time and get to know the other person online before agreeing to meet face-to-face. While we do not offer video chat. We take every measure we can to ensure you’re talking to real people.

Meet in Public and Stay in Public

Meet for the first few times in a populated, coffee shop, restaurant or with a group of friends — never at your home, their home, or any other private location. For your safety, if meeting in a private place is the only suggestion they can agree to, end the conversation.

Tell Friends and Family About Your Plans

Always tell at least one friend or family member of your plans, including when and where you’re going. Have your cell phone charged and with you at all times.

Know Your Limits

Be aware of the effects of drugs or alcohol on you specifically — they can impair your judgment and your alertness. If anyone attempts to pressure you into partaking in more than you are comfortable with, leave.

Don’t Leave Drinks or Personal Items Unattended

When meeting someone for the first time, it’s always important to know where your personal items are (i.e. cell phone, wallet, purse, etc). If you are meeting at a bar or restaurant- also be careful to always know where your drink is coming from and keep it in your sights at all times.

If You Feel Uncomfortable, Leave

It’s okay to end the date early if you’re feeling uncomfortable. If leaving doesn’t feel like an option don’t be afraid to ask for help. Asking a bartender or server for help can be a great solution. Trust your instincts and remember to value your safety above all else.
